Very cool to see RHP Brian Van Belle get a shot with the Red Sox. Originally signed as a priority UDFA following the shortened 2020 draft for $20k. Has moved between roles, but excelled as of late in the rotation: since 5/9, 31 IP, 1.91 ERA, 24 K:4 BB, 0.559 opponent OPS.

Slotting Roman Anthony in RF is interesting. He last played there May 2nd & has 4 games there all year. He’s played 31 games there total w/19 of those coming in 2023. On the road I wouldn’t be too concerned, but RF at Fenway is a different. Something to watch these next few days.

Roman Anthony has demolished fastballs in Worcester this year, including good velocity. His OPS against fastballs 94+ mph was 1.255 as of June 1st, which was more than 250 points higher than anyone else in the Red Sox organization. Full scouting report: soxprospects.com/players/anthon…
