After a week of almost no solar activity, AR4086 on the NW limb of the Sun exploded giving of an X1.2 flare! Frequencies of up to 25 MHz will be affected on the sunlit side of Earth. Stay tuned for more updates☀️

High solar activity was observed. Frequencies of up to 28 MHz over Africa may have been affected on the sunlit side of Earth during some of these solar flares. AR4087 is still on the disk, so further activity is possible. Stay tuned. SANSA SANSA Space Weather DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE,TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION 😎

A G1/Minor geomagnetic storm is in progress with a maximum Kp of 5. This is due to the continuous high-speed stream (HSS) influence from coronal hole 52 (CH52/-). The solar wind speed is at strong levels with speed reaching up to 740 km/s.

It has been a stormy 24 hours geomagnetically . We are still expecting more geomagnetic storms today due to the combination of CMEs and high-speed stream from a coronal hole .DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE,TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION SANSA

SPACE WEATHER CONDITIONS: Geomagnetic conditions ranged between G1/Minor to G3/Strong storm levels (Kp 5-7) in the past 24 hours due to HSS and CME effects. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be active to G3/Strong storm levels (Kp 4-7) as the HSS and CME effects persist.

A G3 (Strong) geomagnetic storm warning has expired as of 13/0600 UTC. A G2 (Moderate) geomagnetic storm warning remains in effect until 13/1200 UTC primarily due to proximity CME influences.
