Congratulations to Dr. William F. Tate IV on being named the next president of Rutgers University. As we look ahead, I offer my sincere thanks to outgoing president Dr. Jonathan Holloway for his steady hand and service through so many pivotal moments.

Today the House passed a bill that guts health care coverage and SNAP to fund tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. We will keep fighting to protect the people this bill leaves behind because New Jersey families deserve better than to be sold out in the middle of the night.

Today the General Assembly advanced several affordability bills—from utility assistance to increasing housing supply to helping people save for retirement. Because these aren’t abstract problems. They’re kitchen table conversations happening every night across New Jersey.

Great to be welcomed by the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce for a conversation on how we’re keeping our state affordable and competitive. Our investments in infrastructure, education, and workforce development helps support our businesses, enabling them to grow and thrive.

Recently, I had the opportunity to speak at the Woodbridge Senior Summit about New Jersey's historic investments in property tax relief—including the new PAS-1 application that makes it easier to apply for StayNJ, ANCHOR, and Senior Freeze benefits!

As Memorial Day approaches, we reflect on those who gave everything and reaffirm our support for the living heroes in our midst. I was honored to join the Borough of Carteret in recognizing the sacrifices of our military and their families.

Today we honor Memorial Day by remembering the courageous heroes who laid down their lives so that others might live free. We thank all service members for their sacrifice and for defending the values that define our nation. God bless our fallen heroes, and God bless America.
