We found that one of the reasons why Apc is a potent tumour suppressor in the intestine is that once it’s lost in a stem cell, notum a wnt target gene will inhibit wnt signalling in neighbouring stem cells. This allows Apc mutant cells to “win”. More details in Dusty’s thread
