The #RiverSpey is looking beautiful just now, decked in its gorgeous winter colours.❤️ And we know we’re VERY late to the party but….Happy New Year, everyone!😆 Keep an eye on us in 2024 as we continue ramp up the scope and scale of the projects we deliver 😁

It was a freezing -14C last night in Dalwhinnie. The Met Office reports that this marks the coldest January night in Britain since 2019! And it looks like the mercury is set to plummet again tonight.🌡️🥶 We're sending warm wishes to everyone braving the chill on Speyside!

Our River Calder restoration project was completed in 2021. Fast forward 3 years, and this is what it looks like… Thanks to large deer-fenced enclosures in an area that was devoid of river-side trees, there is now a large amount of natural woodland regeneration. #speycatchment

Check out all these beautiful stoneflies! This is what we love to see.😊 Well done to our volunteers, who are so keen that they have started doing extra invertebrate surveys, in this case on a burn on the outskirts of Aviemore.👏 And thanks, as always, to BuglifeScotland🥰

Yesterday, we joined forces with key public sector orgs to discuss public land management collaboration around the lower Speyside. Helping public sector orgs to better work together is critcial to meet biodiversity & climate challenges.😁 Thanks Nature Positive for organising!

A shout-out to our neighbours, the Findhorn Watershed Initiative (@FindhornWater) We recently toured their upper catchment south of Inverness, exploring their visionary projects. The highlight? Over 40,000 new Scots pine and native broadleafs set to transform this valley.🌳

What an incredible day and an incredibly inspiring view.😍 This special area is one of our favourite parts of the catchment and shows the huge impact that land management decisions can have on the size and rate of nature recovery. Inspiring. ☺️ #speycatchment #naturerecovery

After just two months our flailed sites are already showing signs of increased natural regeneration!🌱😁 Last week an amazing group of local volunteers conducted the first annual survey and spotted tiny pine seedlings, blaeberry, cowberry, and cow wheat!🌲🌳 #speycatchment

Progress....😁 🌱🌲 When visiting one of our project sites (this is our River Calder restoration project), there's nothing more exciting than seeing nature starting to rebound, new growth, and the landscape springing back into life. speycatchment.org

Incredible!😍 During a recent walk along the Upper Spey, we were fortunate to witness a dragonfly in its rare and fragile transitional stage from nymph to adult. 🐛 To say we felt lucky to witness this rare event is an understatement. 🦋🙌

What was once a featureless stretch of river, uniform and no more than knee deep, now has extremely deep pools around nearly all of the 80+ large wood structures. ❄️🐟 These pools will provide a cool, lifesaving refuge for juvenile Atlantic salmon from summer heatwaves.🌞
