It did almost crush me. The only reason it didn't is because of my amazing lawyers & the generosity of 28,887 people. But here's what you don't know. The judgment is *extraordinary*. 117 pages of FACTS. About Russia, Brexit & the man who funded it. 1/ theguardian.com/uk-news/commen…

A key result of my ordbetareg paper that applies to *all* bounded response modeling: *Don't transform the outcome to avoid 0s and 1s by subtracting/dividing by a small constant!* The results change--dramatically--see "transformed beta" in my replication plot👇 (1/2) #rstats

With the OpenAI clownshow, there's been renewed media attention on the xrisk/"AI safety" nonsense. Personally, I've had a fresh wave of reporters asking me naive questions (+ some contacts from old hands who know how to handle ultra-rich man-children with god complexes). 🧵1/

#Paper_Alert! Did you ever wonder why there is such a large morphological diversity in #shell-bearing #amoebae and what is the #function of shells anyway? It was long assumed shells are for #defense, well let me try to convince you that their purpose is #attack! A thread🧵👇

I suffer with SAD & this winter’s bad but I’m thankful for things that get me out for some light. Thanks Hamamelis, Daphne, Galanthus, #NewYearPlantHunt, necrobotany, ferns, swelling buds, clear skies, botany friends & knowing spring will come one day. Not resorted to birding yet

The hepatic mat webinar can now be seen on the Swedish Bryology YouTube channel. Also some nice little taxonomic videos including one on Andreaea rothii/rupestris - delightfully called the 'sooty mosses' in Sweden. ? something for the BBS to consider 🤔 youtube.com/@mossornasvann…

After 5 years of late mowing our lane verge has gone from flower-rich grassland to species-poor False Oat-grass with just a little Knapweed. No fertiliser used in adjacent fields but two dairies and 160000 poultry within 1km. Late mowing for flowers doesn’t work in high N areas.
