Telling a person sends the message they are bad, they need know better. Responding to a person opens up the opportunity to teach through building a caring adult relationship. This wraps a sense of safety and support.

I believe Paper Tigers is even more relevant today than when it first came out. With the impact of COVID, too many kids were separated from caring adult relationships. Many students are in crisis over their exposure to toxic stress.

Randy Sprick always said you can’t punish kids into submission. You are so right, it only exacerbates the problem
