College athletes: Here are some considerations if your school asks you to sign a release of claims to obtain your scholarship or revenue sharing deal— 1. If you upheld the terms of the deal and didn’t breach the contract, the compensation is owed to you. 1/

I've now received contracts for buyouts athletes have been offered from two other entities. Apparently this is becoming quite the business. Athletes, please DO NOT SIGN these contracts before you have an attorney review. The three I've seen bring up a number of concerns.

If you want to see a youth athlete having fun with NIL, check out Reese Lechner! She's featured in the book and such an impressive young lady. 👇🏼

The “we’re starting a new financial year next week and have no idea what the CSC is going to cost us” is something A LOT of ADs have been complaining about.

I woke up to a wonderful review by Don Williams for The Athlete's NIL Playbook this morning. You still have about 48 hours to get in on the bonuses if you buy the book: - Live NIL and revenue sharing workshops with Q&A - 11 bonus pitch templates - Checklists to implement what

Designated Student Athlete (DSA) is the term used for students that were or would have been cut because a school opted into the HOUSE V NCAA settlement and has to cut their roster down to cap numbers If a school keeps players they name as a DSA, those players won’t count

A total of 319 NCAA DI schools chose to opt into the House settlement for the 2025-26 academic year, sources tell Yahoo Sports. That's 82% of DI. The deadline to opt in for this year was Monday. Going forward, schools must decide by March if they are opting in for the next year.

Opendorse and Teamworks - systems that schools are using to facilitate rev-share pay - tell Yahoo Sports they distributed more than $16 million combined from schools to athletes on Day 1 of rev-share Tuesday. PayPal, the system used in the Big Ten & Big 12, did not provide data.

I've been asked if this allows Big Ten to get around potential Title IX issues, so I asked a few attorney friends in that space. They all say no. If the school is directing who the payments go to, and how much, that's enough for Title IX to apply.

More details on the Felix Ojo deal with Texas Tech. Reported number includes incentives and other assumptions. Number over three years without those things appears to be $2.325M. And remember rev share deals can’t be signed until December (or offered in writing until August).

Texas Tech softball "helped pull off the deal financially"? So they're investing softball money into football? That sounds like a Title IX attorney's dream.
