A sad day for The Washington Post readers as the standalone Metro section in print is eliminated and folded behind Style. As a lifelong Washingtonian and veteran of the Metro staff, I always admired the Post's commitment to covering Washington as a community not just a capital.

In the last 18 months, Sports Capital Jour students covered: NBA All-Star Game NCAA March Madness Final Fours at Cleveland and Tampa. NCAA March Madness Final Fours at Glendale, AZ and San Antonio. The Olympic Games Women’s Basketball Gold Medal game at Paris. NBA Finals at Indy.

Students experience historic sporting events like never before through the IU School of Liberal Arts in Indianapolis Sports Capital Journalism Program (Sports Capital Jour). At the NBA Finals, students got real-world media coverage experience in the heart of Indy. 🏙️ bit.ly/4nlhQMQ

Many congrats to M.A. alum Brian Burnsed on this nomination, and thanks for the important advice he has shared with the students to follow.

At the APSE Summer Conference in Minneapolis (from left): Mitch Friesenborg, Zachary Powell, MSJ and Michael Harley are building professional relationships and continuing the progress they started as students at IU Indianapolis.
