Said farewell to our wonderful PGCE cohort, boy child fractured his wrist and fetched girl child home after first year at uni. That's enough for one day!

Picking up not one, but TWO boxes of children's books chosen by our global majority student researchers, from the loveliest bookshop I know. Imagined Things Bookshop thank you!

This feels like such an exciting week for literacy! UKLA conference, a new and wonderful children's laureate in Frank Cottrell-Boyce on the shoulders of the giant that is @JosephACoelho, a new book from Dominic Wyse and Charlotte Hacking and, dare I say it, a general election!

Presentation done! This UKLA conference might be just what I needed. I am beginning to feel my mojo creeping back. #UKLABrighton2024

Thought-provoking morning thinking about standard English with Ian Cushing, Rebecca S-Hargreaves and UKLA . #uklaBrighton2024. Already rewriting my sessions to give this more focus!

This sums up how my thinking began today. Standard English. Ways we need to think and things we need to know. Change the student, or change the system?

The teens in my house are singing Alice the Camel. One mis-heard and thought it was a song about Alisdair Campbell. Now, it is all I can hear.

A fantastic day of thinking and talking and listening. Thinking differently about the English curriculum. Also...a good day out!

And to round off an excellent core subjects conference, the superb Christopher Harrison brings his energy and passion for children's books, inclusion and diversity. What a session!
