To begin their literacy topic, Reception celebrated with a cosy Pyjama Day. The children had a fantastic time making their own toast for breakfast, racing in sleeping bags, and winding down with a hot chocolate and a story. A brilliant day of fun and learning! Emmaus CAT
Nursery have been exploring their sense of touch today. They looked outside for things that were hard and soft, rough and smooth. Emmaus CAT
Nursery have been observing a spider making a web and today we developed their gross and fine motor skills by crawling like spiders and making webs of their own! They threaded legs to make bouncy spiders too. Emmaus CAT
Today, Year 3 pupils made pasta skeletons! This fun activity helped them to learn about certain bones in the human body while being creative. Emmaus CAT
To celebrate Black History Month, Nursery learnt all about Miss Lala the acrobat. They even had a go at being acrobats by twirling hoops, jumping and tumbling, balancing on a beam and dancing with silky material! Emmaus CAT
Reception had a fantastic day learning about Barack Obama for Black History month. They shared what they would do as leaders — from being kind to buying all the toys in the world! There are definitely some future leaders in Reception! Emmaus CAT
Our GIFT team took part in a Jubilee prayer trail with a cluster of other schools. The focus for our table was on the dignity of ourselves and others. It was a lovely event and the team enjoyed meeting with other GIFT teams and sharing ideas Emmaus CAT
Today Nursery made delicious vegetable soup using potatoes grown in our school gardens. They washed, peeled and chopped them carefully, developing their fine motor skills. The soup was lovely and some of them even had thirds! Emmaus CAT
Year One learnt about Louise Da-Cocodia for Black History Month. They found out that she was first ever senior black nursing officer in Manchester. The children learnt about what nurses do and why Louise was so important. Emmaus CAT
Year 2 learnt about Simone Biles and how she links to this year's Black History month theme 'Standing firm in power and pride.' They learnt all about her achievements as a gymnast. They practised gymnastics in the hall and enjoyed taking part in the different events Emmaus CAT
Year 4 learnt about Manchester-based reggae poet and musician Linton Kwesi Johnson. Born in Jamaica and later moving to the UK, he explored themes of race and identity in his work. Inspired by him, Year 4 created their own poetry. Emmaus CAT
For Black History Month, Year 5 learnt about Sarah Parker Redmond, who spoke in Manchester in 1859 to campaign against slavery. Pupils made fact files about her and created a beautiful slave quilt featuring symbols of hope, love and freedom. Emmaus CAT
Year 6 learnt about Manchester-born artist Claudette Johnson, known for her powerful drawings of Black women. They studied her style to create self-portraits. Year 6 also joined the Great Big Assembly Live to hear inspiring stories, including that of Rosa Parks. Emmaus CAT
Year 3 took part in a BBC live lesson for anti-bullying week- they had to act as secret agents and work on secret missions such as cracking puzzles. It focused on how we can be kinder to others. Emmaus CAT
On our Jubilee Celebration day, the GIFT team led the whole school on a prayer trail. All classes became Pilgrims of Hope and learnt ways in which we can live with and share hope in our lives. #pilgrimsofhope #jubileeyear Emmaus CAT

Reception took part in a class worship today to light the Candle of Hope. They spent time reflecting on what they are hopeful for. Emmaus CAT
Year 2 took part in our Jubilee Prayer Trail. They reflected on key moments of faith, offering prayers of thanksgiving and hope. They also contributed to our school’s ‘Tree of Hope’, adding their own intentions and messages as a sign of growing together in faith. Emmaus CAT
