W/E 4.10.24: To develop our movement and handling skills the #Nursery children have been learning a game called Mountains & Valleys. They have to run around and turn over as many markers as they can, more than the other team. Lots of fun!

W/E 4.10.24: In Phase 1 Phonics time the #Nursery children played a game called 'Noisy Neighbour'. They had to make a noise which would wake their neighbour up, such as snoring, hair dryer or tap running. Great sounds from the children!

W/E 4.10.24: Following instructions is a very important skill for #Nursery children to learn. We played some listening games this week which would help with that. The teachers gave an example of something to do - like jumping or hopping - and the children had to do it correctly.

W/E 4.10.24: In RE the #Nursery children listened to how God created all the animals. We used the big screen to identify & describe animals; then they had to make their noise! In provision, they could draw their favourite animal for our RE floor book.

W/E 4.10.24: As it is now October, it is the month of Our Lady, Mary. In collective worship the #Nursery children looked at rosary beads. We talked about the colours & the numbers of beads. We watched how to hold them as we asked Mary to pray for us with the Hail Mary.

W/E 4.10.24: This week's Virtue To Live By is Thanksgiving. The #Nursery children used the fresh food from the harvest role play area to express why and how we should give thanks for the good things we receive.

W/E 4.10.24: Here is a selection of the #Nursery children learning different skills through general provision, both inside and outside. Our resources are growing all the time and the children love accessing them.

W/E 4.10.24: The #Reception children learned about the terms 'same' and 'different'. The activities set up in provision helped them to explore these terms and to work out what made some things the same or different to each other. They then had to explain their thinking.

W/E 11.10.24: The #Reception children have been given their own set of rosary beads which they will be using every day in October as it is the month of Our Lady. We taught them what each bead represents & how we say the Hail Mary whilst counting them.

W/E 11.10.24: In the music and movement lesson the #Reception children were given a scarf each. They had to move it in time to the beat of the music. Look at the shapes they made - circles, zigzags, swirls, waves.

W/E 11.10.24: In RE the #Reception children heard that God made every one of us unique but He still knows everything about us including every hair on our head. They drew round their hand then painted their fingertips to reveal their unique fingerprints.

W/E 11.10.24: The #Nursery children learned about artist Piet Mondrain to coincide with the maths learning (shapes). We saw that he liked to paint in straight lines & squares/rectangles. The children took great care in creating their own style modelled on Mondrian's.

W/E 11.10.24:It is very important for #Nursery children to learn how to improve their finger manipulation skills so that later on they can hold pens & pencils correctly as well as grip things to climb. Here they are developing these skills by placing objects along shape outlines.
