🌱 Our beanstalks are growing beautifully in Tavy Class! The children are doing a fantastic job measuring them with cubes each morning and recording the progress in their bean diaries. Future botanists in the making! #GrowingTogether #STEMinAction

🪱🐞Tavy Class have been busy exploring the world of minibeasts after reading 'Superworm'! From building brilliant bug hotels to creating transient art minibeasts with loose parts and classifying creatures by their features — it's been a week full of discovery and creativity!🌿🔍

It's art week! This year we are focusing on shapes as well as art from some of the countries represented in our school community. We have chosen: Patrick Heron (Cornish), Sonia Delauney and Maria Prymachenko (Ukrainian), Wycinanki patterns (Polish) and Indian henna designs.

Day 2 of art week. Plym focussed on Sonia Delauney and her beautiful circle art. We were inspired to make a 3D version using clay and wire.

Tamar studied Ukrainian artist Prymachenko. They were inspired to create pastel pieces with birds & flowers. The skills they have learned during their time at St George’s were clear to see. Their passion for art and understanding about the media they were using was impressive.

Lynher Class studied Wycinanki polish folk art today. They used their paper cutting skills to create beautiful collages, lots of which included our resident chicken, Penguin! They also used pastels to create impressive bird art inspired by Ukrainian artist Prymachenko.

Day 4 of art week! Today in KS1 we linked our learning to Mehendi designs, often used in India or as part of celebrations around the world. We used the skills of line drawing learnt in art lessons this year to complete fine line patterns.

At St George’s we are passionate about learning outside and use our beautiful grounds to provide the children with incredible opportunities to care for animals and plants. Every day the children enjoy our nature garden, care for their environment and spend time with nature. 🌱
