Sometimes, I’d rather not be asked at all than feel forced to lie with a smile. It’s like being anything other than “good” is unacceptable. We’re expected to present as happy, even when we’re drowning inside — and that makes the depression and anxiety worse.

We need to normalize not being okay. Not just for those who live with mental illness, but for everyone. Let’s stop pretending, and start listening. 📷 mentalhealthweek.ca
