8 Romero investigated magnetic field lines around a bar magnet using iron filings today with Miss Miller. Many pupils were also able to explain how a compass is used to plot magnetic field lines.

7aTe worked really hard today in Mrs Owen’s lesson. Pupils learnt to thread up the sewing machine independently and completed a practice piece before starting their sweet inspired cushions next week.

Mrs Owen’s 8B Textiles group were reacquainting themselves with the sewing machines today so that they can sew their pencil cases together next week.

English Theatre trip update: Pupils have enjoyed the first act of the performance and are looking forward to act 2. All pupils are enjoying treats during the interval. The performance is scheduled to finish at 10.15pm.

Yesterday, Year 7 Kolbe and Teresa took part in a gymnastics lesson which focussed on the topic of balance. Mrs Harris and Mr Cartwright tasked the pupils with designing group balances.

Today in Mr Turner’s science class 7J were measuring the temperature change of neutralisation reactions in a practical based on GCSE investigations. Everyone rose to the challenge and got great results.

Mrs Harris’ PE Stars of the week are Year 8 pupils who have a lesson P4 on Friday. The pupils illustrated outstanding effort and behaviour during Friday’s lesson. A special mention to Harry W, Tom H, Bo D, Rosie S, Isobel M & Katie M for challenging themselves in the lesson.

On Friday, Ms White’s 8 Devereux science class carried out some excellent work investigating if chemical reactions were exothermic or endothermic. Pupils were able to verbally explain as well as explain details clearly in their assessment books.
