Last week we had Shazia from Equilibria visit us to talk to us about her Muslim faith. She shared the five pillars of Islam and discussed the similarities between the Qu’ran and the Christian Bible. Thank you, Shazia, for visiting St Joseph’s!

Last week, some of our Year 3 and Year 4 children attended the Big Kickabout Festival. The aim of the day was to have fun and our children certainly did! For some of our children, it was their first time on a football pitch outside of school - we were so proud of all children!

An afternoon treat of hot chocolate and biscuits whilst we prepare for sports day tomorrow…Y6 has been very quiet today whilst many children have been at their high school transition day! We can’t wait to all be back together tomorrow!

Whitby did it again…and are champions of St Joseph‘s Sports Day 2024! Bolton 2nd, Fountains 3rd and Kirkstall 4th! Congratulations to all children for another fantastic sports day!🏆

KS2 had chess club running this year and the children have been truly enthusiastic about working on their strategy and skills. Please enjoy a photo of some of the Y3, Y4 and Y5 children who had a friendly competition last session and who came away with some goodies at the end!

Year 4 worked hard to write their own Haiku poems based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They read them to the class in the outdoor classroom to practice our presentation skills.

Year 5 enjoyed their transition morning yesterday in Year 6…we were having so much fun that barely any photos were taken. The morning involved team building games and time spent establishing what they want to achieve in their final year at primary school!

Year 3 are loving reading the Secret Garden. They enjoyed writing short stories about the main characters and publishing them.

Year 3 had lots of fun exploring making their own pulleys in DT.

Last week Y1 went on a local walk back through time to see where the old Railway Line used to be linked to our learning in both History and Geography.

Thank you to some of our wonderful parents for helping to bring Year 2’s Australia topic to life. We loved finding out about Aboriginal boomerangs and hearing and playing a didgeridoo!

Year 5 had a great time working on building different robots for their DT project. They had to carefully follow instructions and had to be resilient if things didn’t work out. They all worked well on their problem-solving skills!

Y4 had their final healthy eating workshop with Tom from Leeds United. They had a fun session making their own wraps!
