NZ needs to focus where the largest emissions issue is and it will exceed its commitments - emissions from agriculture - specially cows. Largest methane emissions per capita on the planet

"On current trends, the probability of staying below 2°C of warming is only 5%, but if all countries meet their nationally determined contributions and continue to reduce emissions at the same rate after 2030, it rises to 26%" As if a 26% chance was good. nature.com/articles/s4324…

One day New Zealand. Perhaps one day you can actually do something of impact on GHG ..... it’s unlikely though unless you address the elephant in the room rather than side step it at every turn www-newshub-co-nz.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.newshu…

It is deeply wrong that people are not being warned we're heading for 2°C of global warming which will make it hard for everyone to live by 2043 give or take nine years, and that climate justice action could limit the damage, protecting species and everybody.

I would have thought a sophisticated, humane and advanced civilization would have a back-up plan ready in case the net zero strategy started to look like an ineffective and overly optimistic approach. But as far as I can make out, it's net zero or oblivion.

I'm logging off now, but a final point: I had a breakdown reading the last IPCC report. I cried and cried. But within six months, we had shut down central London for a fortnight and forced the UK Parliament to declare a climate emergency. Turn your anger into action.

Shame NZ. There has to be hope that when you attend COP26 you have a RADICAL new approach to mitigating your fair share of GHG reductions. It’s grossly insufficient as it is now. You cannot continue to avoid the large elephant in the room - methane. climateactiontracker.org/countries/new-…

“the government will approve a plan for adjusting Russia's economy to the global energy transition by the end of the year”. Who’d have thought Russia would have a viable economic plan before the US or the EU. It’s what happens when you “do” vs talk oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-O…

One solution to climate change could be as simple as feeding cows and sheep grass that is grown under the sea. Plans are underway to ramp up the production of seaweed farms in South Australian waters to be fed to livestock around the world. 7NEWS.com.au Casey Treloar

.DCVC-backed CH4 Global announces a milestone in its journey to get its seaweed-based #methane-reducing feed supplement to 10% of the world's 1.5 billion cattle this decade. Great news--since as much as 1/6 of global GHGs come from burping cattle. finance.yahoo.com/news/ch4-globa…

Methane, which cows burp, is an especially potent greenhouse gas. Great piece by Mike Butcher (BlueSky/Threads: @mikebutcher) in TechCrunch about how companies like CH4 Global (proudly backed by DCVC + DCVC Bio) are working on amazing reduction solutions 👇 techcrunch.com/2023/12/15/in-…

A memorable dinner with one of lead investors who’ve been with us for some time. DCVC has a great track record of backing leading companies. It was an honor to be able to share our story and progress with a phenomenal group of key investors this week at climate week in NY.
