Fascinating molecular mechanism of how H2O2 directly activates ATM kinase during oxidative stress. Impressive structural biology work with very elegant biochemistry 👏

Delighted and honoured to receive the Birnstiel Award this year 🥳 I am truly indebted to David Barford for all his support over the years as well as all members of the David's group, especially @centromuir Many congratulations to all other outstanding fellow awardees🎉

Wonderful to see Department of Biochemistry at Oxford University ungraduate alumnus Stanislau Yatskevich recieve this year’s International Birnstiel Award 2023. Stan exemplified how we hope to train young scientists and has gone on to make fundamental discoveries @MRC_LMB. Congratulations Stan! imp.ac.at/news/article/i…

Happy to see our work on the structure of the outer kinetochore in print nature.com/articles/s4159… Special thanks to David, Dom, Jing Yang and Ziguo Zhang Glad to see the complementary study by @AndreaMusacchi1,@polley_dilse and @TobiasRaisch in the same issue! Congratulations 🎉

Our new paper about the structural mechanism by which RAD51 assembles at double-stranded DNA break sites on chromatin has been published in Nature! doi.org/10.1038/s41586… #CryoEM #Nucleosome #RAD51 #DNArepair

Excited to see this work from Stanislau Yatskevich and I out in NatureStructMolBiol! We averaged the native yTuRC from Yeast SPBs, and discovered a novel coiled-coil protein stapling the Tubulin lattice to yTuRC. Huge thanks to Addison Burtis, David, John, Rappsilber laboratory and Dom! rdcu.be/dEx0R

When I joined David Barford's group @MRC_LMB it was with the goal of using my cryo-ET and computational skills to help them understand funky biology. I joined TomDendooven and Stanislau Yatskevich's efforts to average the native gamma tubulin ring complex (γTuRC) from tomograms of SPBs

A gentle reminder that there is less than 1 month to register for the centromere biology GRS & GRC! The GRS is almost (!) fully subscribed so get your applications in ASAP if you wish to present a poster. We have a great lineup of speakers and mentors so don’t miss out!

New work from Pablo Alcón in my group shows that DNA repair proteins FANCD2-FANCI slide on double-stranded DNA. Surprisingly they specifically recognise single-stranded junctions #cryoEM Our first foray into single molecule imaging thanks to David Rueda @MRC_LMB MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) Thread here:
