We had the honor of celebrating those who go above and beyond for our community at the Sheriff’s Citizen  Star Award luncheon. These individuals exemplify dedication, service, and selflessness, making a lasting impact on those around them. Their commitment does not go unnoticed!

The LPD was proud to participate in the Books & Badges program this year. Officers read a book to local first grade students and then answered questions. At the end of the event, students were given a copy of the book to take home. The program is made possible by Starfish Assignment.

We were excited to join Marion Police Lt. Mark Elliott, K-9 Ranger, and many other friends at the 2025 Special Olympics Ohio State Summer Games Opening Ceremony. Ranger’s baseball-style card was a hit, and he greeted hundreds of fans! 🐾🏅 Best of luck to all the athletes and coaches!

Our continued prayers are with the three Lorain Police Officers ambushed yesterday—two of whom were simply eating lunch. This violent act is a sobering reminder of the dangers law enforcement face every day in service to their communities. We stand with the Lorain Police.

We’re devastated by the loss of Officer Phillip Wagner of Lorain PD, who died today from injuries sustained in yesterday’s ambush. Officers Brent Payne and Peter Gale were also wounded. We’re holding them in our hearts and sending love to their families, friends, and community.
