As promised here is my latest update on HEPA Filters. Now 4 full school weeks since installed across school, and in those four weeks only had 12 cases, and this week have had ZERO cases amongst the children. First 3 weeks after Christmas before took effect had 39 cases.

Govt alarm at “deeply distressing” allegations as 140 parents, teachers & students expose “systemic emotional abuse” at top trust over 2 decades. Teachers screaming in faces, scared kids fainting, teachers trained on “healthy fear”, SEN kids “pushed out”. theguardian.com/education/2024…

My child’s mental health absolutely affected by school. A teacher can have a catastrophic effect in a child’s mental health. (and the converse). The results here show just how out of touch the teaching profession is regarding the children they teach.

Really odd how this report does not simply say "EHCPs are the problem, just get rid of them" Oh. Hang on. Perhaps the law isnt the issue ... #sen #send #ehcp x.com/SpcialNdsJungl…

Burnt out SENCOs are leaving the profession. This isn’t going to help the government’s plan for inclusion. x.com/SchoolsWeek/st…

A new study shows ADHD is not be coming more common, but that greater awareness and acceptance are likely to be encouraging more people to seek help. This is undoubtedly the same for autism. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Michael Merrick Michael, thank you for this. It was truly cathartic for me... don't know what it felt like to have to write it. My sadness is that I experienced all this with my children in a catholic school back in the 2000s. Has nothing changed in a quarter of a century?

Michael Merrick A plethora of incentives that reward bad behaviour and obstinate belief that only they know the correct way to bring up a child. The lunchbox policing has to be one of the most authoritarian and subversive undermining of parental autonomy in recent times.

Watching 3 carers with 4 severely disabled adults at lunch. One woman is sat on her phone, not bothering to even speak to the disabled adults, one is hand feeding another food so hot steam is rising from it and wondering why he is turning his head away. I’m going to make a scene

To prioritise relationships above learning is to create a baby-sitting/ parent-alternative service that demeans the work that we do. On the other hand, to prioritise relationships, but after or alongside learning is not counter to the approach that is being argued against.

Parents MUST be allowed to safeguard their children and have more input into schooling as well as be free of institutional direction if choosing to home educate.

I'm not a primary expert but I know that at secondary there are students that dread non-structured times. Playtime=don't know what to do=have no friends=misery=hate school is an equation that needs to be addressed if we're promoting more. They could be a mixed blessing.

Less than 2% of children were involved in pupil-staff incidents last school session and that 85% of these children had an additional support need. Almost a third were aged between 3 and 5 leading the council to take the view that 2/6

Question and observation Dr James Shea Which report did the extract come from as I'd like to read the full version. My observation is similar to what StarlightMcKenzie suggested, recommending schemes funded by DfE is deplorable but this is what teaching seems to have become...

nt’s rarely position themselves as making an interaction *more* difficult. they see themselves as the ones tolerating, because *they* experience paternalising frustration at difference. they don't see themselves as Lacking (often what the autistic person has in abundance).

🍓🍇🍊simply, me. (@aqua_or_bob) 's Twitter Profile Photo

many nt's are arrogant about the ease they believe they provide. more nt's ought to regard themselves as one neurotype among many. ignorant praxis contributes to others interacting with their worth as circumstantial. and that is unacceptable.
