Whitney Tilson (Whitney Tilson) earns a B for his support of regulatory reform and fiscal responsibility. We appreciate his alignment with an abundance-oriented agenda, but are disappointed by his support for continuing restrictions on short-term rentals.

Zohran Mamdani (Zohran Kwame Mamdani) earns an F for his destructive and unrealistic economic agenda. Before getting into our criticisms, we do want to acknowledge his support for street vendor and food truck deregulation - one of the few economic policies of his that we support.

Put simply, Mamdani’s economic policies are a threat to the long-term economic viability of NYC. His agenda lacks realistic funding and implementation plans and reflects a profound ignorance of economic trade-offs and consequences.

In case you’re not watching the debate, every mayoral candidate is currently competing on who will build the most housing 👀

After watching the mayoral debates, the only candidate that moved much in my estimation—and moved up—is Whitney Tilson.

“If elected Mayor I will ensure that every child will receive the marshmallow in a TIMELY FASHION”

It's not being appreciated just how radical Zohran's expressed views were just a short time ago, and how little he's addressed them. He had a full-on commitment to ending capitalism, defunding police, ending exam schools, "decarceration," and embracing racial conflict. 🧵

We need to adopt policies that grow our economy not crush it.

The cruel irony: In the name of “affordability,” we’ve made housing unaffordable for everyone except existing property owners. It’s like banning buses to protect taxi drivers, then wondering why rides are expensive and scarce.

The solution isn’t rocket science: 1. Legalize apartments everywhere 2. Streamline approvals 3. Let supply meet demand 4. Watch rents moderate naturally But that would hurt incumbent landlords and NIMBY property values. Can’t have that.
