Left Foot Forward Oh dear - what went wrong was a collection of ideas strung together that collectively destroyed the welfare state, and attacked the very people that needed the benefit most, while not addressing the cohort it claimed were at the centre of the debate. It was incoherent & halfbaked

Timms tells on himself here (25 June 2025) Paraphrasing constituent's letter: "I'm classified as LCW (which means they get the ordinary UC rate), if only you'd classified me as LCWRA...then I would be comfortable" So UC Health can't choose their rate & Standard UC is inadequate

đź’Ż this. Had I not worked Hackney Community Law Centre & represented "genuinely disabled" people at PIP & ESA appeals, I never would have believed how appalling the so-called assessments are. Rushed. Not thorough. Default position to disbelieve. Rationale for decisions completely irrational.

This is a hypothetical case, but a very real situation and the reality of taskification and workforce substitution. Medicine is not about tick boxes whereby "anyone" can have a go and Apps communicate with patients. It is much, much more than that. 9/

Labour admit that they "did not consult [disability] organisations specifically on the proposed PIP eligibility changes prior to the publication of the Green Paper." No real inclusion. No listening. Just making up bad ideas by themselves. #DisabilityBenefits

There is no need to cut a single penny in support for disabled people. Tax extreme wealth instead. This week in Parliament I presented my petition for Wealth Taxes, Not Disability Cuts backed by over 75,000 people. I'll keep fighting for this.

"Asked whether she was prepared to rule out tax rises, she said: "I’m not going to, because it would be irresponsible for a chancellor to do that."" If only Reeves had known this a year ago, we could have avoided the whole #DisabilityBenefits debacle. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…
