Julia Hartley-Brewer The Sun You’ve spent years whipping up culture-war outrage — sneering at Black Lives Matter, spreading climate denial, mocking COVID safety measures, and now exploiting antisemitism and terrorism for political point-scoring. That isn’t journalism, it’s toxic theatre.

I love the Arc. What a shame papers don't cover racing properly any more. Should be double-page spreads in all the nationals

Это не просто пошлость, а уже диагноз, современным шахматам This is not just vulgarity, but already a diagnosis of degradation of the modern chess

Robert Jenrick responds when challenged by Sky News about his "I didn't see another white face" comment: "We can't have communities in this country where there's a heavy preponderance of one group over another" 96.3% of his constituency of Newark is white.

The sheer arrogance of this comes from UK media & politicians never accepting free movement worked BOTH ways & millions of us benefitted Like in 2016 when the BBC "fact-checked" FoM as, quote "the right of EU citizens to live in the UK" That was it. No mention it was reciprocal

I do wonder if Labour might look at the sorts of people dominating the discourse and dominating the content wars and maybe, just maybe, rethink the sorts of figures they routinely put up for interviews, instructed to be as cautious as possible. Politics has changed. Their comms

Labour too often seem to consider it a success if no-one notices their interviews. The insurgent parties only consider it a success if people do. The former just no longer cuts it in the attention economy.

You can’t be an effective party for successful people in midlife (sort of the *point* of the Tory party ultimately) if you are at odds with them over the most consequential thing you did in office. This week’s column: ft.com/content/a65fb9…

The way Radio 3 now present their tracklists online make it much harder to find pieces. Why must change always make things worse? If it ain't broke etc etc

So we've got Tories, Labour, Lib Dems and Reform all condemning the decision to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv fans. Maybe they should... un-ban them?

Brexit will hurt the economy for ‘foreseeable future’, the Governor of the Bank of England confirms. It’s years late, but much more of this Brexit truth-telling and the Government might actually have to do something about it. telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/…

President Zelensky went to Washington to get Tomahawks and instead got a lecture from Trump urging him to accept Putin’s terms or be ‘destroyed’ by Russia. Another shameful moment in US foreign policy towards Ukraine. on.ft.com/3WMSQSu

We’re heartbroken to hear of Daniel Naroditsky’s passing. His brilliance, kindness, and love for the game touched so many in the chess world. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who were inspired by him.

It's odd to see Johnson back on TV. He feels a figure as remote as Stanley Baldwin or Ramsay MacDonald. Completely defunct as a politician. Forever to be labelled the worst PM of all time. What does he do with the rest of his life? More terrible books. Maybe an ignored Substack?
