October is the peak month for #BirdTrack records of Jay. They seem to become less shy in autumn, while finding acorns to feed on and famously caching them away to find again in winter. Look out for their white rump as they fly between trees and listen for their raspy calls.

The end of October normally sees the peak reporting rate of Hawfinch on #BirdTrack. They have been on a higher than average number of complete lists so far this autumn, will you record one of yours this weekend?

A phenomenal day for Redwing, with a wonderful thrush arrival keeping us busy all day long. 20,000+ Redwing is the largest count since 1991, and being among 800+ Blackbird is just truly magical. Two Bluethroat, a Rosefinch & a Hawfinch also featured: fairislebirdobs.co.uk/latest_sightin…

This funky leucistic Redwing was amongst the lingering thrushes Fair Isle Bird Observatory today - certainly stood out from the crowd, especially in flight with that amazing asymmetrical plumage!
