-I actually checked back if ARS faced anything like this - 47 corners ago v SOU - Armstrong has both arms on Raya (just like Saliba had yesterday v Flekken) - result: Raya misses the ball & shot on post, ref says NO FOUL = LOOPHOLE

Soca So Onana appeared to engage Doherty - isn't it a flaw? Most say "ah the GK is soft why don't they push the opp?" But when they do it's their fault? Come on. This exactly shows that the refs/you don't understand it. I guess Doherty's 2 arms out is a natural thing to do?

It was a matter of time until a PL team will use the Monaco formula v ARS to leave 2-3 players up to decrease the numbers & body contacts inside/they also used 2 stoppers on Gabriel. ARS adjusted, creating more isolated spaces for the target players instead of creating traffic.

Jose Alberto suggests that because positional (zonal) defending is prevalent in Spain it is beneficial for his team to attack using a relational (non-zonal) logic. Interestingly, it has also been proposed that relational attacking is advantageous vs (non-zonal) man2man defences.

Arsenal clearly miles ahead of every team in set-piece planning, no debate over this. But, not to start again the loophole thought, yet finding small margins to make advantages with 'not clean' movements, as Trossard is clearly pushing a def to move the offside line early.

From the 3 of the 5 matches Liverpool have dropped points in this season, Szoboszlai hasn't started. I think that's telling and probably the only 3 matches we've lacked real control in

Argentina National Team tactical coach/analyst Matías Manna has written a book about football. It is a work of fiction: 'The Time of the Trees'. In this interview Manna describes the themes of the book such as tensions between Europe/South America and Data/Essence of the game.

Tamworth-Tottenham is a good example of players forgetting to dribble. Every time Spurs players go for a 1v1 and dribble they win it (obviously) yet they are not used to it and passing around like always do.

As a natural consequence more and more teams will probably look to exploit the loophole that Arsenal found to legally block the GK - now it's the referee's turn if they will still allow it or not.

Savinho breaks the collective structure by moving over from the left side to the right and City breaks the defensive lines. Interesting.

Context: -in the mentioned PL match MCI used a 4222, which in general is quite hard to be solved by a 523/541 that CPA use -in the FA Cup Final match MCI used their usual solution against a back 5, which is 316 But I agree, the quote in itself does sound amazing.

Conte changing his usual game style really went under the radar this season. From the usual pattern play style (still using some) he made/allowed Napoli to be flexible, possibly adjusting to the Serie A + players' characteristics. Always nice to see a coach adapting like this.

Ancelotti in his presentation “After 40 years I still don’t know the system that wins games” “The system has to depend on the characteristics of the players you have, so that the player feels comfortable on the field. To take advantage of the enormous quality this country has”
