Whitstable lifeboat station celebrates the RNLI’s 200th anniversary today, 4th March. Founded in 1824 the RNLI has been saving lives at sea for 200 years with over 146,000 lives saved and counting. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland.

A yacht which had requested assistance after the vessel’s navigation equipment failed was escorted to safer waters by the Whitstable RNLI lifeboat on Saturday afternoon. Launching at 4.46pm the lifeboat crew located the craft just east of the Kentish Flats wind farm.

A dismasted catamaran with two occupants onboard was towed ashore by the Whitstable RNLI lifeboat on Friday afternoon. Launching at 1.40pm the lifeboat crew located the disabled craft a ½-mile northeast of the Pollard Buoy in the entrance to the Swale.
