Yes, yes, yes, the 5th Nothobranchius Symposium Shari Seley is finally here! Do not forget to bring your water bottle. It will be sunny (max. 22 °C), but also windy -> layers are your friend. 🩳🧥 Amazing community, amazing science - killifish peeps, are you ready?! #Notho23

Ready to kick of the first day of #Notho23 with these amazing goodies!🤩 Special thanks to all sponsors @LoligoSystems ViewPoint Behavior Technology Noldus IT Bio-Techne Microbiotests VWR, part of Avantor ZEISS Microscopy TECNIPLAST Aquatic Solutions Merck Bionomous, and Sara Gilissen for the gorgeous design!

Congrats to our best poster winners Sara Bagnoli & Steven Bergmans and best talk winner Valerie Marien! Special thanks to The Company of Biologists Bio-Techne Noldus IT ZEISS Microscopy Ocean Nutrition Tecnilab-BMI @LoligoSystems Bionomous Microbiotests VWR, part of Avantor ViewPoint Behavior Technology #notho23

Biggest surprise for me at #Notho23 was winning the best poster price. Wouldn’t have been possible without a great team effort from Brian Clark MoonsLab Ryan MacDonald @phruzycki ArckensLab. Excited to see my hands gaining recognition! The real focus is on the strength of that small fish—understanding aging's impact on life, regeneration, and degeneration. Explore the protocols in this issue and the October edition. MoonsLab Luca Masin Sophie Vanhunsel

Today, our very own Steven Bergmans presented a part of our latest findings and insights at The Obergurgle Optic Nerve Meeting, delving into the atypical responses observed in the fast-aging killifish following optic nerve injury! 🐠🐠🔬 #opticnerve #killifish #opticnervemeeting

Interest in how axons can fuel their regeneration? Check out our new preprint “Local glycolysis supports injury-induced axonal regeneration”. A joint effort by me, Steven Bergmans Annelies Van Dyck Lies De Groef @FarrowLab MoonsLab

This project started as two labs working on the same idea and ended in a true collaboration between MoonsLab @phruzycki Brian Clark and ourselves. Both first authors Steven Bergmans @NCLNoel deserve tons of credit. This is an exciting new research direction for our lab.

Two new preprints from the lab this week. The first, a collaboration with MoonsLab, Ryan MacDonald, and @phruzycki (led by Steven Bergmans and @NCLNoel) examining how gene expression changes with age in the fast-aging killifish model.

My final paper as a PhD student has officially been published in Aging Cell. Big thanks to all the authors involved, especially @NCLNoel, Luca Masin, @phruzycki, Brian Clark and Ryan MacDonald for the enormous help while producing this wonderful paper! Next stop? PhD defence

🚨🚨 Pre-print is out!!🚨🚨 Using 🐭🐟🐠 to study the 👁️🧠 Proud to have my first co-senior author research paper out as pre-print! Joint-effort comparing retinal ganglion cell survival between species by: MoonsLab Julie De Schutter Anyi Zhang Luca Masin
