On Monday 8th January, staff from the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth came into school to deliver a “Climate Heroes - Energy Investigators” workshop.  The children had the opportunity to  see the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park using VR headsets.

Arena Football League Our Y3/4 football played their first matches of the season. They performed brilliantly with two very strong performances: Narrowly losing 2:1 to Liskeard Hillfort before winning their second game 5:2 against Sir Robert Geoffrey’s School. Well done all!

Our Pre-school are enjoying some music sessions every Wednesday. Parents with babies or toddlers are welcome to join these sessions for FREE.

Years 1-6 also had visits from Ashlea Dodsworth (Cornwall cleaner air officer) to help us make a difference in reducing pollution in the community. The children enjoyed investigating evidence of pollution around the school environment using a range of microscopes

Our Lego-league team are enjoying building and coding. Some great teamwork on show. 😃

We all had a great day enjoying numbers today. We completed lots of maths activities, raised some money for the NSPCC - some of us even coded microbits to randomly generate timestable questions 😀

This week the children enjoyed an assembly about road safety and were lucky enough to have a scooter workshop afterwards where they were able to develop ‘scootering’ skills while enjoying navigating a scooter through a challenge course.

Children from Y1 and Y2 had a great afternoon playing cricket. They showed great throwing, catching, striking and teamwork skills. They were a really pleasure to watch play. Thank you to Cornwall Cricket and Launceston College . 😀

We were pleased to welcome back Ashlea from Sustrans. She helped the children pot some sweet-peas, ready for planting in the local community. We are looking forward to the fragrance when they start to grow.

What a fantastic educational visit the children in Y1 and Y2 had yesterday. They all thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt lots about the two bridges, their history, Isambard Kingdom Brunel and linked it all to their transport topic.

What a wonderful ‘Wow Week’ we have had. It has been a fantastic week as the children participated in activities linked to Cornish Heritage.

Year 5/6 had a fantastic visit to London. They were lucky enough to visit the houses of parliament and learn about its history. We also enjoyed our visit to the Science museum where we watched and took part in some explosive experiments. What a fabulous learning experience!

We welcomed Ali and Ali into school to congratulate the school on winning the bench made from the recycled plastic tubs. We have now set a new challenge to collect wrappers from biscuits, crackers and old makeup and wipe packaging (see image below) to help raise money for charity

We welcomed volunteers from the RNLI (Padstow) to talk about beach and sea safety. The children learnt about what the different colour flags mean and what the job of the RNLI involves. It was great to borrow some of their time.

Next Wednesday 18th September and two weeks later, Wednesday 2nd October we are hosting an open afternoon for parents who will have a child starting school next September or who is looking for a place for the child in a Pre-school setting
