Our results on spectroscopy with a III-V-on-silicon mode-locked laser will be presented during post-deadline session at #CLEO20! Watch (free) online 14 May (JTh4A.8) cleoconference.org/home/! Dr. Zaijun Chen Nathalie Picque Bart Kuyken @groelken FWO Photonics UGent

Dual-comb spectroscopy with an on-chip mode-locked laser demonstrated for the first time. We resolve the rovibrational lines of CO with a resolution of 1 GHz over a span of 1 THz! Photonics Online Meetup Nathalie Picque Bart Kuyken @groelken Photonics UGent #POM20ju #POM20LM

Delighted to announce that Ewoud Vissers developed a novel type of III-V/silicon-nitride mode-locked laser with a low-noise dense comb! Check the paper on arXiv: arxiv.org/abs/2102.13020 Photonics UGent Bart Kuyken FWO Stijn Poelman SMART Photonics

We have a new paper out: record-power (2 pJ) on-chip mode-locked lasers using III-V-on-silicon-nitride! Amazing work by first author Artur Hermans and all collaborators! Photonics UGent Bart Kuyken imec Xavier Rottenberg link open access article: aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.…

Hi all, Still time to register for the frequency comb workshop organized by Francois Leo ,Nicolas Englebert and me! Location: Magritte Museum in the center of Brussels! Date: 12-13 September. Cost: 150 Euro including lunch, dinner and drinks. See frequencycomb.be for details.

In a few days CLEO Conference is starting. We are very proud to see that many contributions from Photonics UGent. Enjoy your time in San Jose!

Proud to share this big collaborative effort showing scalable heterogeneous integration of a 70Gb/s lithium niobate modulator on Si and SiN platforms using micro-transfer printing, published now in APL Photonics: doi.org/10.1063/5.0150… Photonics UGent IDLab Stay tuned!

Experimented today how close the Photonics UGent triathlon team can get to the speed of light at the mr. T triathlon... Pretty close since we managed to finish 9th!

Had a lot of fun supervising Arturo with Stijn Poelman last year. Nice to see that his results got him a award! :)

Took a train down to the Kippenberg group with some colleagues to see how they generate frequency combs from microrings. Started to wonder if the secret to publishing Nature papers is being surrounded by a lot of nice and highly distracting nature? Photonics UGent #EPFL
