🙌 Freedom for travellers to use e‑gates again 🚜 For food exporters a modest SPS corridor will cut down form‑filling and spoilage. 🥳 UK will also rejoin the Erasmus scheme and our youth get freedoms to travel which we want! 1/2

A Tory frontbencher Alex Burghart is on #BBCLauraK berating Labour for "not knowing how to negotiate with the EU." The Tories are like a drunk man at a party boring you with a story which has no point. No wonder they are irrelevant.

The EU - UK deal is welcome, but overly cautious. Without at least rejoining the single market we won’t turn the corner on the 4 to 5 percent of GDP (and the corresponding £40billion lost tax revenue every year - think about what a difference that would make!) caused by Brexit.

True free trade without political integration does not exist anywhere in the world. You have to choose your levels of barriers and integration. Nine years post referendum you'd have hoped our politics would reflect that.

Social media this morning is a zombie apocalypse of dinosaur Tory politicians and right wing hangers-on hankering after the nasty Brexit wars of the last decade. Our country has moved on!

Alastair Campbell is right abt Brexit, media & lies below. But he really is NOT the best person to making these points considering his role in the media & lies which directly fuelled the anger & cynicism which fed Brexit.

The UK Govt is trying to repair the damage of a hard Brexit. It faces an absolutist, unattainable Faragist Brexit with simple media messages. Yet the Starmer Govt seems to not understand the UK & devolution. Or more accurately has a pre-devolution idea of Westminster absolutism.

Young European Movement UK President Alfred Quantrill strongly hopes for a youth mobility agreement, ideally linked to Erasmus Plus, to restore lost opportunities for young Brits. 🇬🇧 🇪🇺

Starmer’s deal with the EU is designed to make our lives better. The EU obviously wanted something in return for a deal. Anything they wanted was always going to annoy someone in the UK. The alternative is to make no deals with foreign countries and watch the UK decline further.

Tice : "We don't want to be tied to an EU in recession" ↙️ Fact : The EU is NOT in recession ↘️ As ever, an outright lie about Europe is waved through unchallenged on UK TV Sky News The EU is 27 countries, some of which (Poland, Spain) have growth the UK can only dream of

Given the tsunami of Brexiters trying to be relevant in a world that's moved on, this flotsam was always going to drift in. But even by Boris-standards, claiming it was Edward Heath that cocked up in 1973, while his own deal was months away from brilliance, is pretty wild. ~AA

🇪🇺🇬🇧 Today’s UK-EU agreement is a good step, but the govt must go further. We Liberal Democrats want to see: 👉 A Youth Mobility Scheme 👉 A bespoke customs union to remove red tape holding back British businesses 👉 Deeper security ties to face down Putin & the unpredictability of Trump
