What a fantastic Yr 8 rugby match this afternoon against our friends from ACS Sport, Health & Well-Being !! It was a real nailbiter, with St John's coming out on top 26-21! Well done to all players involved! 💪🏉

The cricket season is almost here!! We're super excited about this in the PE department and can't wait to get our after-school clubs and fixtures underway from next week! For those who can't wait, then there's great news for you as Aberdare Cricket Club start their sessions from today!!🏏

We're excited in the PE department for the launch of our summer extra-curricular activities, starting this week! Lunchtimes, there will be cricket on the yard & a range of after-school activities! Cardiff City Football for Yr 7 also continues on Mondays, 3:00-4:00! 🏏 ⚾️🏃‍♀️⚽️

A big well done to our Yr 9 boys who put in a super effort in the heat to win their RCT Cup semi-final vs Y Pant! After drawing 1-1, cool heads and an excellent save by our goalkeeper, lead us to a 4-2 win on penalties!! We look forward to the final on May 20th at Cambrian!! ⚽️

What a fantastic turnout for our Yr 8 & 10 cricket training this afternoon!! Well done to all pupils who attended. Plenty of good batting, bowling & fielding on display. The bowling machine had to work really hard!! I'm sure that Yr 7 & 9 will be no different next Tuesday! 🏏

A very busy week of sport!!!

Despite a narrow 2-1 loss in today's RCT Cup final, the boys should be really proud of their efforts! They battled from start to finish and were a credit to our school. Congratulations to Tonyrefail on their win. ⚽️

The boys are all warming up for this evening's cricket match at Sophia Gardens!! If Glamorgan are missing a player, we have plenty of replacements!! 🏏

Despite a loss for Glamorgan, the pupils had a great experience of live cricket this evening! ETA back in Aberdare is 10:45. 🏏

The boys are getting in some last-minute practice prior to this afternoon's cricket matches with Cwm Rhymni!! 🏏

Well done to all of the Year 5 students who visited St John's on their Discovery Day visits over the past two days! It was great to see so much energy, enthusiasm and smiles! We hope to see you all again at our Open Evening next academic year!

Sports Day 2025 was a memorable occasion for all involved! Both pupils and staff had a fantastic day in glorious weather. It was also amazing to see a number of our St John's records tumble, which is a testament to the athletics talent possessed by our pupils! 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️
