I hope cyclists will comply without the need for enforcement. We have been trying to encourage cyclists to dismount on Kynaston Avenue for many years, but have seen little success.

Sophie Cameron Stokey Updates I have seen it, it's okay. They made it bigger to face out for cyclists to see it, because the past excuse has been that cyclists couldn't see the old sign because it was mounted on the wall.

Stokey Updates Which sign number is that in the traffic signs manual? I think it’s one they have made up. It’s a poor choice. Non mandatory signs only create greater cyclist-pedestrian conflict.

The “Cyclists Dismount” sign serves a non-mandatory advisory purpose. It’s used to suggest that it might be safer, more considerate, or more practical for cyclists to dismount—even if the law doesn’t require it. cycling-embassy.org.uk/dictionary/cyc…

According to the AI search app Perplexity, the sign “CYCLISTS DISMOUNT” accompanied by the additional wording “Cycling is prohibited” is problematic and does not align with UK traffic sign regulations or best practice.

Stokey Updates All depends on what LBH as the highway authority want to achieve. Suspect the legal position is that it's a footway [connects at each end to footways] so maybe it has to be this:

This is one of five shop mergers on Stoke Newington Church Street. In my view, gaining a new shop would be a welcome addition, bringing the total number of commercial units on the street to 124. Of these, 93% are currently occupied. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…
