Just watched a moving #Extrodinaryportraits on BBC One with Bill Bailey. It takes a very special person to be an End Of Life Nurse Specialist. Thank you Jules Lewis RGN MSc 💙🦢 for always making a difference and demonstrating the transformative effect of nursing on peoples lives ❤️ #nhs75

Am hearing about yet another "workforce review" Asking CNSs to take on other work is a false economy. Loss of complex co-ordinated care is risky Loss of specialist symptom control and psych-social care increases suffering and stops admission avoidance #CNSValue #ValueNursing

Reflecting on recent events on patient safety, I authored this with anne marie rafferty earlier this year for Royal College of Physicians to mark 10 years and little progress on safety from the Francis Report rcpjournals.org/content/future…

Over time I've looked back at the many health inquiries (independent & statutory) for common themes since Ely in 1967. Recurrent themes remain unaddressed I can see why another is needed, but not sure it will change anything substantially. #Nursing or lack of, features heavily

And we haven’t stopped there! Recently, we built a toilet(!) and hosted an escape room-style event in Parliament in support of our #CatheterCareChallenge to drive awareness of how the quality of life can be improved for patients who use urinary catheters (3/5)

I think this depends on your definition of care. Most virtual wards seem to offer some kind of tech/monitoring with some professional oversight. How many actually offer care in the home I think is debatable

Hear this a lot. Yet for all the time I have been looking at the NHS workforce, those really proficient at keeping people out of acute hospital beds and managing remotely (with only a telephone-no AI involved!) have been devalued and replaced. There is real dissonance here
