Research by Trinity College Dublin research group Stonebuilt Ireland, based in Geology in School of Natural Sciences, Trinity College Dublin and led by Professor Patrick Wyse Jackson and Dr Louise Caulfield, in collaboration with Valentia Slate and Carrig Conservation, has resulted in designation of Valentia Slate as an IUGS Heritage Stone
