Check out our latest paper on #nanofiber #micelleplexes in Biomaterials Science โ€“ we manage to improve the transfection activity by >50% by increasing the length of the polymer! Big shout out to all my collaborators, especially Lennard who is a machine when it comes to cell culture!๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿค–

Delivering medicine around the body is a big challenge. In a new Biomaterials Science paper, the Ian Manners Research Group & Dr. Willerth labs test their precision nanofiber delivery system in different conditions. End result? 50% more DNA delivered to brain cancer cells! ow.ly/r8Tx50OmXEX

Our work on the mechanism of action of antibacterial nanofibers is out now in J. Am. Chem. Soc.. A bittersweet moment for us in the Manners group as we dedicate this paper to the big man himself - this was one of the last papers he submitted before he passed. You'll be missed, Ian!

There is still time to register for our memorial symposium for Prof. Ian Manners - we have extended the registration deadline to August 16th. We also have a limited number of $100 travel bursaries for those able to make it to UVic in person. Hopefully see you there!

A really interesting insight into the backgrounds of Nobel Prize winners... We still have a long way to go before we have equal opportunities for all in society.
