The last time that Welford Road witnessed 13 more more tries in a Leicester Tigers game was against the Barbarian FC in November 2014!

That's 50 points in two successive matches for only the tenth time in Leicester Tigers 145 year history. The previous one was last year against Ampthill and Newcastle - the first one since 1997!

So the 4968th game in Betfred Super League history ends uniquely in a nil-nil draw and Leigh Leopards eventually win with a golden point drop goal in the 83rd minute. An unusual way to start the 30th new season of the tournament.

Ale Loman becomes the first Scandinavian born player to play for the Leicester Tigers men’s team. There have now been players born in 46 different countries to play for the first team.

That’s 50 points in each of three successive first team games for Leicester Tigers for the first time in their history.

On Saturday Scottish Rugby will have held the Calcutta Cup for 1477 days since taking it from England in 2021. It is the Scots longest tenure in possession of the famous trophy ever, beating the 1470 days they held it between 1893-1897.

Northampton Saints today equal Leicester Tigers record of five backs in an England test team, originally set on four occasions in 1983/84, with Hare, Woodward, Dodge, Cusworth and Youngs included.

The last time that Leicester Tigers held Northampton Saints 😇 scoreless in a first-half at Franklin's Gardens was in September 1988, 16-0. Leicester won that one 30-19.

Only two teams have ever been 23 points (or more) behind at half-time in a Premiership Rugby match and won the game. Both amazingly in June 2021, when Wasps won 39-36 at London Irish after trailing 10-33 at the break and Harlequins 43-36 semi-final victory at Bristol (5-28 down at HT)!

Five tries in the first 10 minutes is a new Premiership Rugby record. Previously Wasps and London Irish shared the first 5 tries in 13 minutes at High Wycombe in April 2006!

The most tries in the first half of a Premiership Rugby match currently is NINE: Leicester v Rotherham in 2004, Wasps v Irish in 2006 and now Bristol v Exeter today.

Record book rewritten at Ashton Gate. TEN tries and SIXTY FOUR first-half points are both new marks in the 28 year history of Premiership Rugby.

Before today the last time that BOTH teams scored a drop goal in a Premiership Rugby match was Sale Sharks 🦈 v Wasps on 2 January 2016.

Here's the points per game and tries per game stats for Premiership Rugby, that backed up Stephen Jones article in the The Times and The Sunday Times today thetimes.com/sport/rugby-un…

Let's hope Leicester Tigers break trheir duck at Bristol today. They have only ever played twice before on Easter Sunday and lost them both! At Wasps in 2002 and at Leeds in 2005.

Only twice before has there been three yellow cards handed ou to a team in the first hald of a BKT United Rugby Championship (URC) match: Zebre at Glasgow in Match 2016 and Kings v Leinster in November 2018!
