topendsports.com/sport/cricket/…. #Snickometer detects sound when the ball hit the wooden bat via the stump camera. It might not detect if the ball hit a soft gloves and that is far from stump camera. Very simple. There was no #optical illusion.

🧵 Methotrexate: A Drug Born from Mistakes That Changed Medicine Forever 1/ When you hear Methotrexate (MTX), you probably think of Farber or Gubner. But the story actually begins in 1945 with Subbarow, an Indian-American scientist most people have never heard of. #Rheumatology

I recently came across the timeless piece - ‘Why join an IISER?’ by Prof. N Sathyamurthy. It was a sincere and inspiring appeal to young, curious students from a mentor , encouraging them to pursue science fearlessly. Things have changed since then.

One issue with academic career is that it focuses on results rather than on understanding, with the assumption that getting results entails understanding, which is not always the case. So we may end up examining CVs of people who got many results but who understand almost nothing
