What a jam packed and busy month October is. Being a Speak Up guardian is a privilege and this is our Speak Up month. We come together to celebrate all the good work happening in this space, also reflecting on the immense amount of work still to do.

More people are speaking up every year and that is a step forward for patient and staff safety and culture, yet there are still people who feel fear and futility, for whatever reason unable to use their voice. Still work to do, must keep listening up.

I will continue to support colleagues to speak up, striving for the best speak up culture in our Trusts. Starting off with a Board Workshop challenging the Board to own their speak up pledges and to identify the next steps in improving our culture George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust #whatareyourpledges

During Speak Up Month, we are asking colleagues to wear green every Wednesday to raise awareness of this year's theme, Listen Up. Highlighting the importance of staff not only Speaking Up freely but that managers #ListenUp and follow up too.

Day two of speak up month today sees us attend SWFT Board Workshop to talk about our self-reflection & planning tool. #poweroflistening

Today I have the honour to represent SWFT, GEH and the Midlands Guardian Network at a celebration event at the House of Lords, talking about speaking up and the power of listening and following up.

Today the team are at GEH for the Nursing and midwifery Care Excellence Conference. Come and join us to make your FTSU pledge and talk about living our values and how there is power in listening.
