Our new 4K + Blu-ray edition of Guillermo del Toro's NIGHTMARE ALLEY (2021) has joined the collection! 🖤🌀 criterion.com/films/35272-ni… Noir fatalism has rarely been so alluring as in Guillermo del Toro's vision of the world as a soul-sick carnival of corruption.

"Del Toro’s adaptation of Nightmare Alley is one of his most evocative films." Sarah Weiman's great essay for the Criterion edition of Guillermo del Toro's NIGHTMARE ALLEY (2021) is online now.

Guillermo’s most underrated movie. One of my favorite Christmas Day movie theater viewings. It’s also the most additive black and white cut of any recent release. Enhances the movie on so many levels. Real noir.

I already loved Guillermo del Toro’s NIGHTMARE ALLEY in its theatrical cut form, but the black and white director’s cut takes the film to a whole new level. I know it’s odd to call a movie nominated for Best Picture “underrated,” but I think this qualifies. Incredible stuff.
