Rosebay Willowherb in a clearing in an ancient High Weald wood near a medieval furnace. This is an alien that has spread almost explosively since WWI but probably earlier but I have no idea how long it has been here. The Flora notes it is very common Sussex Botanical Recording Society BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland

Fantastic day at Rye Harbour looking at the plants of the shingle with the Twiglets group. Species included the very rare Least lettuce, Twiggy Mullein, Red hemp-nettle and Marsh mallow. Sussex Botanical Recording Society

Achillea ptarmica (Sneezewort). My first in flower this year here in the High Weald. A weekly walk takes me through what might be described as β€œDamp unimproved grassland” (Flora of Sussex) where it is indeed β€œlocally fairly frequent”. After a tip off from a botany friend, we visited Hooe Common today ( a former SWT reserve). Nice to see Sneezewort, Betony and Cotton grass. The horses are doing a good job keeping it open Sussex Botanical Recording Society

Plus loads of nice plants of dune systems, such as Eryngium maritimum (Sea Holly) and Calystegia soldanella (Sea Bindweed) 4/5

I’m talking to LBC News in about 15 minutes and BBC Radio 4 at about 2230 tonight about the Ghost Orchid (Epipogium aphyllum) that I found growing here in the UK earlier this month #wildflowerhour

Can everyone get into plants? Read about one woman's journey via taking her dog for a walk, websites and identification apps. Botanical University Challenge and the Second Student Botany Festival help Biological science students along that journey. theguardian.com/wellness/artic…

Good to see some ferns in a more urban setting today in and around Eastbourne - Hart's-tongue, Wall-rue, Maidenhair Spleenwort and a Polypody on a building gutter! Sussex Botanical Recording Society

Early winter berry palette for the possible dopamine it might trigger in your brain. The neon pink of spindle berries (bottom rightish) never seem quite real...

As it is #NationalTreeWeek here are a couple of the lovely old Oaks in Buxted Park, Sussex. I'm drifting over to where skies are bluer and more peaceful
