Superb talk by Suzan Kors about organelle “hugging” the regulation of peroxisome-ER interactions in mammalian cells! #clescon @CLESUniofExeter University of Exeter Doctoral College
Excited to share my PhD research - now published in Journal of Cell Biology! We show that #peroxisome🟢-ER contacts are regulated by phosphorylation and that GSK3β can inhibit these contacts by directly acting on the ACBD5-VAPB tether 👇
We have a "News and Views" from Suzan Kors, Joe Costello & Michael Schrader University of Exeter about their work showing membrane contact is regulated both positively and negatively by phosphorylation. journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11… The PO4 group can enhance or prevent FFAT-VAP binding.
Our review on VAP proteins is out! With an overview of their many binding partners 🪢 how they are hijacked by pathogens 🦠 and the role of mutant VAPB in ALS8 🧠 including lots of ER-#MembraneContactSites Frontiers - Cell Biology Joe Costello frontiersin.org/article/10.338…
A pioneering study, led by Professor Michael Schrader from the University of Exeter has shed new light on how subcellular organelles divide & multiply. exeter.ac.uk/news/research/…
Wondering how all those membrane contact sites are regulated? In this review we summarize different mechanisms that can control organelle tethering e.g. Phos, Ub, ROS, dimerization, interactors ↔️ #MembraneContactSites #BioEssays Joe Costello onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/bi…
Congratulations, Dr Suzan Kors from Exeter Biosciences. It was a pleasure to act as your examiner LSI Exeter. A well-deserved graduation after 4 years of hard work! And thanks to Marc Fransen travelling all the way from KU Leuven. Peroxisomes rock!
I did it! I succesfully defended my PhD thesis Exeter Biosciences @GW4BioMedDTP Thanks to everyone who was part of the journey! I had an amazing time.
Struggling with your protein immunoprecipitations? This methods chapter includes all my tips and tricks based on the >100 IP experiments I did during my PhD. In #peroxisomes 🟢 #MiMB Schrader Lab link.springer.com/protocol/10.10…

We looked at peroxisomal ACBD4/5 proteins across evolution + exploring them in Drosophila and Ustilago revealed new roles in PO-ER contacts, neuronal/hyphal PO positioning, PO degradation, ... Schrader Lab Exeter Biosciences @GW4BioMedDTP Now in BBA doi.org/10.1016/j.bbam…
In their Review, Suzan Kors and Anne-Lore Schlaitz Uni Heidelberg highlight the dynamic remodelling of the ER for mitosis and discuss how these changes support cell division. journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/13…
