Today we celebrated South Sudanese Independence Day with a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall! Deputy Mayor Sharon Owens presented a proclamation honoring the South Sudanese community in Syracuse, recognizing their contributions and cultural richness.

Mayor Walsh and the Clean-Up ‘Cuse Mayor’s Office Adopt-a-Block team hit the Northside last week. The City Hall squad picked up litter and trash on Park Street near Franklin Elementary. If you’d like to adopt a block, learn more by searching “adopt” at syr.gov.

The new STEAM School opens this September! Today, Mayor Walsh, County Executive Ryan McMahon, and Superintendent Anthony Davis toured the school as preparations continue for opening day. We look forward to welcoming our first cohort of students this fall.

Syracuse has been awarded the Golden Snowball Trophy for the 2024–2025 winter season, marking our 31st time receiving this recognition for the highest snowfall among Upstate New York cities. Yesterday, Mayor Walsh joined community members at Harvey’s Garden to celebrate.

Today, Mayor Walsh and Deputy Mayor Owens joined Governor Kathy Hochul and NYSDOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Syracuse Hancock International Airport, celebrating the opening of the new Gate 27.

Mayor Walsh, along with local leaders, unveiled the new baseball-themed splash pad at Cummings Field in Eastwood! This splash pad features user-activated water elements like ground jet geysers, water cannons, and a 360-degree spinning centerpiece. Come on out and make a splash!
