The City Garden School will be making custom walking sticks made out of invasive honeysuckle at their weeklong camp next week. Saving resources and helping Columbia Parks remove invasive plants at the same time. Columbia Parks

Nathan, a JMS Zookeeper, took care of Bubbles one break. He loved it so much he asked us if he could keep it. (yes) Nathan now moved onto high school but is now growing Kale at his home to send to the JMS Zoo, after Bubbles gets it's share of course. We appreciate and miss him!

Amazing work by RBHS Bruin Bear student, Nora Schneider from BSA Troop 4475. She built this educational display board for Jefferson Middle School to display educational information related to the Zoo, chickens, and Columbia STEM Alliance waste reduction program. It’s amazing!

We very much enjoyed our Ag Week activities today related to food. Ss from the culinary classes at CACC made pasta for us and it was delicious. šŸ˜‹Then Mike Szydlowski discussed fire and gave us a marshmallow to roast. šŸ”„ #cpsbest #PrairieProud

Do you participate in "No Mow May" to help the critically important insect population? Bad news - research has found that it does almost nothing beneficial. But, there are some super easy ways to help discussed in this week's Columbia Tribune article. columbiatribune.com/story/lifestyl…

Teaching is not easy but it does come with one perk most jobs do not have: an annual last day, giving you an opportunity to reflect, relax, and recharge before welcoming in a whole new batch of students. Congratulations on this very exciting and well-earned day!

The Columbia STEM Alliance is the first United States group ever to bring students to stay and learn at the International College of Technology in Hakusan, Japan- Columbia’s sister city. They are representing our city incredibly well.

Plenty cold this week (after Monday) but no real moisture to go with it. No reason to get bummed though...Zero's are by far the most normal score for December. We are just getting started. Brian Earls

It's a 0 for this week but then a two week break! Some precipitation possible mid week but temps just above freezing. Christmas Outlook: One model puts some light snow somewhere in area around Christmas. Others don't. Too far away to really know.

It's Sunday...but nobody cares! Too early to take too seriously... but several models indicating a storm system MIGHT be coming late next weekend....with below freezing temperatures day and night. Still forever away-we will see if that trend continues... Brian Earls

Despite what the groundhog said today, it’s a zero for this week. However, groundhog is thinking about stirring something up for somewhere in Missouri next week. We shall see! Brian Earls
