The reason that tariffs are not having an inflationary effect is *because* the FOMC is tightening monetary policy.
That inflation is near the FOMC target range is a demonstration that the FOMC policy is appropriate, not that it is too high!

It was better when the United States was a beacon of freedom that people escaping violent communist regimes could flee too, rather than a beacon of violently returning people to communism.
This story is psychotic. Trump sent a group of people—many of whom entered the U.S. *legally*—to a notorious foreign mega-prison without due process, in part to free a convicted murderer. I don't understand how anyone who cares about the rule of law can support this.
