I’m calling for the Scottish government to invest in A&E opt-out HIV testing in Glasgow. This game-changing approach to HIV testing will help to save lives and end new cases of HIV in Scotland by 2030.

We were delighted to see Anas Sarwar & cross-party MPs/MSPs calling for investment in opt-out HIV testing in A&Es. This vital tool has already identified hundreds of undiagnosed cases elsewhere in the UK. If we’re serious about ending new HIV cases by 2030, we need urgent action.

Scotland could be the 1st country to end new cases of HIV As MSPs, MPs, THT Scotland & Waverley Care are saying, if Scottish Govt is serious about its 2030 goal to end new HIV cases, it must match ambition with action & investment to roll out emergency department opt-out testing

We could stop HIV transmission in Scotland - if we take the steps to do increase testing. I’ve written along with other Edinburgh and Lothians representatives calling on the Health Sec to invest in testing improvements.

The transmission of HIV can be eliminated by 2030 but only if we take bold action. I’ve joined parliamentarians from across Edinburgh to push the Scottish Government to take those bold actions.

Scotland can & should lead the world in ending new HIV cases. 2030 is our target to do this & the clock is ticking. THT Scotland, Waverley Care & MSPs across the chamber urge Scottish Government to implement opt out HIV testing in A&E urgently. Success elsewhere in the UK is self-evident.
