How has #biocatalysis evolved in the past 5 years? Our just-published review in Science Magazine highlights how powerful technologies have enabled scientists to dream up bold new-to-nature activities and bring them to biocatalytic reality. Curious? 👉science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Starting off the year with some exciting news! Thrilled to say my first ever cover art is on the cover of Chemical Reviews this month! Our review was submitted as part of a thematic issue about late stage functionalisation, go check it out if you haven't already :) The Larrosa Group

Arguably the coolest chemistry we’ve uncovered yet ChemRxiv, especially given that it’s with just one metal!! 🤯Fantastic work by Stas Melnikovᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠ and first of many collabs with Baik Group | Hydride as a Leaving Group in Nucleophilic Aromatic Substitution | - go.shr.lc/3ycdkeL

Today we're joined by Gillian McArthur (Larrossa group), who shares the incredible story behind the development of an air and moisture stable catalyst, RuAqua!! Link: youtu.be/g2xHSLJIO8U Key paper: Nature Chemistry doi.org/10.1038/s41557…

📢 Finally out in J. Am. Chem. Soc.: We engineered the first #PhotoLanZyme, a lanthanide-dependent photoredox enzyme that catalyzes radical C-C bond cleavages upon visible-light irradiation! 💡🧫🧪🧬💻 TU München European Research Council (ERC) pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

The story of how I developed the first biocatalysts for convergent and stereoselective SNAr chemistry is out now in nature! A massive thank you to all of the contributing authors from Green Research Group and The Larrosa Group 🤓 nature.com/articles/s4158…

#ProcterPOW: our colleagues Green Research Group report an enzymatic enantioselective SNAr to give a variety of products and building enantiopure quat centres. Engineering 🧬 of the active site leads to a 31-fold increase in conv and 91% increase in ee! 🔗👇

Just out in John Callahan, we report mechanistic studies on the photoexcitation of biscyclometalated-Ru species and their role in photocatalyzed C-H alkylations with epoxides. Congratulations to Kurt and co-workers, Team Natrajan and Golovanov group!! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
