Glad to receive the trust and recognition in being awarded a Dutch NWO Funding Rubicon Fellowship for important work on antibiotic resistance. I will be tackling this problem using a combination of biophysics, biochemistry and microbiology in Joe Loparo lab at Harvard Medical School

💧TU Delft organises the International Water Association supported congress “Water Smart Economy & Society” on 25-28 May 2025 in the Rotterdam Harbour, The Netherlands. Featuring a Masterclass ‘Pathways to Circular Water Societies’ led by Mark van Loosdrecht . 🔗More info & register: edu.nl/jqcrw

🔬 Researchers from the Marvin Tanenbaum group at Hubrecht Institute have developed a new #microscopy technique to observe how ribosomes function in cells. With this method, they can monitor individual ribosomes as they convert mRNA into proteins. Read more: edu.nl/uf6p6

Coming Friday, Professor of Genome Biology Benjamin Rowland from The Netherlands Cancer Institute and Afdeling/Department of Bionanoscience will give his inaugural lecture, titled 'Curiosity, clocks & chromosomes'. 🕒 14 February 2025 15:00 till 17:00 📍 Senaatszaal, Aula, TU Delft #Genetics #DNA #Cohesin #Condensin #Chromosomes

Join the public lecture by professor Jan Aarts from Leiden Institute of Physics (LION) on Wednesday 12 February at 17:00. Together with the Lorentz Center, rijksmuseumboerhaave will host this Lorentz Lecture about the -arguably still untapped- potential of #superconductivity 👉 edu.nl/r8f3g

Congrats to Miriam Menzel from @ImPhys_TUDelft on receiving NWO Nieuws Open Competition ENW-XS funding! In her awarded project, she'll explore the use of back-scattered light to determine tumour boundaries & visualise highly interwoven nerve pathways on brain tissue surfaces.🔬🧠

🦠A kill-switch as bacterial immune system: That's what Daan C. Swarts from Wageningen U&R and Chirlmin Joo from TU Delft Afdeling/Department of Bionanoscience will be investigating in their awarded research project by NWO Nieuws in the Open Competition Domain Science-M programme. Congratulations! 🔗edu.nl/rf9v4

Congratulations to Evgeny Pidko and Menno Veldhorst from QuTech for receiving an NWO Nieuws Vici grant! 👏 This enables them to develop an innovative line of research and set up their own research group for five years. 🔗Find out more about the grants: edu.nl/bbctf

🎊 Roman Barth has won Fred Hutch Cancer Center’s Weintraub Award for 2025 for outstanding achievements in the field of biological sciences! His PhD research at TU Delft solved a long-standing mystery in cell biology: how specialised molecular machines called SMC motor proteins organise DNA.

Congrats to Ali Elahinik for being elected as Faculty of Impact fellow by NWO Nieuws! 👏 With this grant, Ali will turn his idea for a flame retardant from wastewater into a startup. This innovative technology is green, carbon-neutral, and scalable and advances circular economy.

🔬 Want to meet the big names in the science world? Come to the Nanobiology Symposium by S.V.N.B. Hooke on the 18th of March! Sign up here: edu.nl/ybyf6 With Gijsje Koenderink of Afdeling/Department of Bionanoscience as moderator & a company fair featuring cutting edge technologies and new products.
