Canada’s largest and busiest communications 9-1-1 centre has completed a momentous technology transformation upgrade to the traditional 9-1-1 system that is set to advance and improve our public safety communications over time, starting with automatic text backs to dropped calls.

9-1-1 call takers are getting better data and improved location information during calls with Next Generation 9-1-1. Eventually, Geographic Information System (GIS) technology will help pinpoint callers’ locations — even inside complex places like high-rise buildings — so help

The “Make the Right Call” campaign has helped more people reach the right service faster, but there’s still work to do. This is a great reminder of which number to call and when. Let’s keep reducing unnecessary 9-1-1 calls so emergency help is there when it’s truly needed.
