Our 2022 virtual AGM starts tomorrow, with a fab line up of keynote talks @drperezdiaz @LucyAtFault Clare Bond (Prof.) @seis_matters Elisabetta Mariani, and lots of exciting research in progress presentations Draft programme: tectonicstudiesgroup.org/2022-agm-progr… Register: eventbrite.co.uk/e/tsg-agm-2022…

It’s not often you get to do a keynote featuring a 1967 split screen VW complete with courgette; on a structural geology and TectonicStudiesGroup icon #JGRamsay

Another big well done to Dr Sophie Cox, post-doc Cardiff School of Earth & Environmental Sciences, who won our Ramsay Medal for best publication arising from a PhD project. The paper on shear zone development in serpentinized mantle & strength of transform faults can be found here: doi.org/10.1029/2020JB… Congrats🥳

Today we are celebrating🥳our Dave Johnston Mapping prize winner, @AliceGeology, 4th year MSci OceanEarthUniSoton. Alice's impressive geological map of Durlston Bay in Dorset, seamlessly integrated hi-res aerial photography, LiDAR, bathymetry, and field work observations. Well done!

Our 2022 BP Prize for best overall student presentation went to Cole McCormick, PhD student Earth Sciences at the University of Manchester Cole's presentation 'Experimental study of extensional to shear failure: does hybrid failure exist?' was praised for its accessibility and quantity of experiments. Nice one Cole!

Khadija Alaoui, PhD student from Université d'Orléans, is this years Mike Coward prize winner for best talk 🏆 Covering element mobility in low-grade shear zones, the talk was praised for the accessible integration of complex micro-structural and chemical datasets. Congratulations! 🥳

The 2022 BritRock prize 🏆 for "best presentation on lab rock deformation work" goes to Claudia Elijas Parra School of GeoSciences @ University of Edinburgh! Covering: Crack network evolution during failure in porous rock, the judges commend the clear explanation of methods & stats and overall accessibility 🥳

The 2022 Sue Treagus Prize for best poster goes to... @RebVMRob, PhD student Durham Earth Science 🥳 Titled "Investigating co-seismic reactions in fault cores", the poster was applauded for clarity of layout, figure quality, and overall accessibility. Nice one Bex! 🏆

And the final recorded keynote from #TSG2022, Clare Bond (Prof.)'s moving tribute on the life and works of John Ramsay. youtu.be/pbghpa7X2tg
