A thoroughly detailed presentation on how to use dialogic talk to support students oracy and literacy. The two images below are scaffolds for Y7 and Y12. Modelling thinking as a geography teacher (expert) for how to think as a geography student.

Captain Scott leadership debate: I researched this one-page reading sheet to hopefully encourage a balanced discussion on the famous 1911-12 South Pole story. In shared folder. See previous posts for more. #teachers #geography #geographyteacher

Today was fun. Taking p6 (yr7) outside to learn about 4 fig grid references. Chalk, grid space and photos of the students. They then wrote their instructions in language of their choice #geographyteacher #translanguage #EAL #multilingual

Just putting final preparations on My Street #fieldwork ideas for next week’s #TeachMeet. What investigations would you do in these places #geographyteacher? Would it be different if your students chose the investigation? How do you know? #StudentVoicesMatter #StayCurious

Summarize learning in a snap! Try the "One Picture" activity. Students draw, add speech bubbles, and describe their image to capture key concepts. Simple, effective, and visually engaging! #EdTech #VisualSummaries #Teachers youtu.be/1CckN9T2-Rc

#HowIUsedGISToday Prep for GCSE fieldwork on Monday meant using the Chromebooks to allow the pupils to explore the area we'll be visiting to familiarise themselves with the geology. Embedding GIS as the norm involves little moments like this when I choose GIS over paper.

As a human geographer, teaching weathering and mass movement is one of the subjects I find most tricky. However, I thoroughly enjoyed prepping and executing weathering yesterday. Kept it simple - 4 large, high quality photos on screen and… 1/2

Today y7 found a new location for a football stadium for Lowestoft Town using ⁦Digimap for Schools⁩. The pitch was measured to FA standards and parking and access was a must! Some even added a new train stop. πŸ™ŒπŸ’ͺ #geography #geographyteacher

We've been doing a lot of work on vocab. Something I've been looking at today is using AI to create word lists with definitions divided into Tier 2&3 words from articles & books that we use. What a timesaver!! Article on regen in Northampton written by me. #geographyteacher
